Acting Land Lease Communities Officer

03/12/2024

Join the Tenants' Union staff, and make a difference for tens of thousands of people across the state living in residential (land lease) communities.

The position is for one year to backfill an absence in the Tenants' Union team. This opportunity is open only to people who have had at least one year's experience employed as an advocate in the Tenants' Advice and Advocacy Program. We encourage applicants currently employed with a Tenants' Advice and Advocacy Service to seek a period of leave without pay, but this is not required to apply.

The Land Lease Communities Officer (LLC Officer) plays an important role supporting residents of land lease communities across NSW through assistance provided to Tenants Advice and Advocacy Services, directly with volunteers in communities and resident organisations and leading policy and law reform processes relating to land lease communities. The LLC Officer works closely with the Land Lease Communities Solicitor at The Tenants’ Union of NSW.

Regional applications are welcomed and remote work can be facilitated. Travel into Sydney 4-6 times over the year, and some around the state for community education or training will be part of the expectations.

The Tenants' Union of NSW encourages applications from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander advocates, advocates from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds and people with disabilities.

The Tenants’ Union is a state-wide Community Legal Centre specialising in housing law matters. It is also the peak organisation for renters in NSW and the resource body for the NSW network of Tenants Advice and Advocacy Services.

Applications must address the selection criteria and attach a resume. Applications should be sent to  by the close of business on the 11th of December, 2024. Please contact Leo Patterson Ross for any questions or to discuss the opportunity.
